Case IH 1068 – EDC (Electronic Draft Control) module: Draft control calibration aborted due to tractor moving
Issue description
The tractor's control module detected movement (via the wheel speed sensors, transmission output speed sensors, or radar) while the operator was attempting to calibrate the 3-point hitch or Electronic Draft Control (EDC). Calibration requires the tractor to be completely stationary. If the tractor is parked but the code still triggers, it means the controller is receiving a false speed/movement signal, which can sometimes be caused by external electromagnetic interference (EMI).

Check the cause
Verify the tractor is parked on a completely level surface with the parking brake engaged
Check the immediate area for external electromagnetic interference (EMI) such as high-voltage transformers, welding machines, or radio broadcast towers
Ensure there is absolutely no load or implement attached to the 3-point hitch, and that the linkage can move freely through its entire operating range without binding
Monitor the wheel speed and radar sensor inputs using the Pro700/A-post display or a diagnostic tool while the tractor is parked (a speed value greater than zero indicates a sensor or harness fault)
Inspect the wiring harnesses and connectors for the wheel speed sensors and radar for damage, corrosion, or loose connections
Repair steps
Relocate the Tractor
Move the vehicle away from any potential sources of electromagnetic interference (EMI) to rule out environmental factors.
Prepare for Calibration
Park the tractor on a level surface, engage the parking brake, and ensure the tractor is completely stationary. Remove any implements from the 3-point hitch.
Set Engine Speed
Set the tractor engine to the specified speed (usually low idle, unless the display prompts otherwise).
Attempt Calibration
Restart the EDC / Hitch calibration procedure via the Pro700/A-post display or the calibration switch.
Address Sensor Faults
If fault code 1068 persists and the tractor is definitely not moving, locate the wheel speed sensor(s) and/or radar sensor. Disconnect the sensor harness and inspect the pins for corrosion or moisture.
Replace Faulty Sensors
If the wiring is intact but the sensor continues to send a false movement signal to the ARM/EDC module, replace the faulty wheel speed sensor or radar unit.
Finalize
Clear the inactive fault codes and perform the hitch calibration procedure again to verify the repair.
