Issue description

During the Electronic Draft Control (EDC) or hitch system calibration procedure, the controller determines the minimum PWM duty cycle required to actuate the hitch raise valve. If the controller detects that the hitch begins to raise at a PWM signal threshold that is below the acceptable programmed limit (e.g., 13%), it logs this fault and aborts the calibration.

Check the cause

  1. Ensure the tractor's hydraulic fluid is at the correct level and the system is warmed up to normal operating temperature

  2. Inspect the wiring harness and connectors leading to the hitch raise valve solenoid and the hitch position potentiometer for damaged pins, corrosion, or a short to voltage/ground

  3. Verify that the hitch position potentiometer is physically secure and its linkage is not bent or binding

  4. Ensure there is no mechanical binding in the 3-point hitch linkage that could cause sudden movements

  5. Verify that the engine speed is set correctly according to the calibration procedure requirements

Repair steps

  1. Warm Up the Tractor

    Start the tractor and operate the hydraulics until the fluid reaches normal operating temperature.

  2. Electrical Testing

    Disconnect the harness from the hitch raise valve solenoid. Use a multimeter to check the resistance of the solenoid coil. If the resistance is out of specification or shorted, replace the solenoid coil.

  3. Valve Inspection and Cleaning

    If the electrical circuits and solenoid test fine, the issue is likely mechanical within the hydraulic hitch valve. Remove the hitch control valve assembly, disassemble it carefully, and clean the internal components.

  4. Part Replacement

    If internal wear, scoring, or damage is found inside the valve body, replace the hitch valve assembly.

  5. Reassembly and Sensor Verification

    Reinstall the valve and reconnect all harnesses. Ensure the hitch position potentiometer is adjusted to its correct baseline position so it accurately reads the minimum and maximum hitch travel.

  6. Recalibration

    Clear the inactive fault codes from the system. Re-run the Electronic Draft Control (EDC) hitch calibration procedure via the armrest display, ensuring you follow all operator prompts carefully.
