1075-05 - VCM

Case IH 1075-05 - VCM – ECU / RCU / VCM: Electric fuel pump (fuel lift/transfer pump) circuit current below normal or open circuit

Issue description

The system is detecting that the current draw from the fuel lift pump or its relay is too low, which typically points to a disconnected wire, a blown fuse, a failed relay, or an internal open circuit within the electric fuel pump itself.

Applies to these machines

  • MAGNUM AFS Connect
  • Case IH Combines 2344
  • Case IH Combines 2366
  • Case IH Combines 2377
  • Case IH Combines 2388
  • Case IH Combines 2577
  • Case IH Combines 2588
  • Farmall series
  • Farmall 120A
  • Magnum series
  • Steiger models
  • Equipment utilizing 6.8L and 9.0L engines

Check the cause

  1. Check the fuel lift pump relay and associated fuses to see if the relay is stuck open or has failed completely.

  2. Inspect the wiring harness for an open circuit between the control module and the fuel lift pump relay, as well as from the relay to the pump. Look for corroded connectors, broken wires, or loose ground connections.

  3. Use a multimeter to measure the current draw of the electric fuel lift pump when commanded ON. If it draws zero current, the pump's internal motor winding is likely open.

Repair steps

  1. Disconnect Power

Always disconnect the battery before servicing electrical fuel system components.

  2. Relieve Fuel Pressure

Safely relieve any residual pressure in the fuel lines.

  3. Replace the Relay

If diagnostic tests point to the relay, unplug the old relay from the fuse/relay block and install a new one.

  4. Replace the Fuel Lift Pump

If faulty, locate the electric fuel lift pump, disconnect the electrical harness connector and fuel lines, unbolt the pump from its mounting bracket, install the new pump using new gaskets/seals, and reconnect the fuel lines and electrical harness.

  5. Prime the System

Reconnect the battery, turn the key to the ON position to allow the new electric pump to prime the fuel system and bleed out air.

  6. Clear Codes

Clear the 1075-05 fault code from the ECU/VCM and verify that the pump operates normally without triggering a new code.
