Case IH 1075 – CCM / APH: Left external fender switch short to Vbat

The controller is detecting battery voltage (Vbat) on the signal circuit for the left rear fender switch when it should not be present. This usually means the wiring harness has rubbed through and is touching a 12V power source, or the switch itself has failed internally and is bridging the power circuit to the signal line.

   Inspect the left external fender switch for physical damage, cracked rubber boots, or water/debris ingress that could cause an internal short.

   Trace the wiring harness from the left fender switch back to the cab entry point. Look for pinched wires, chafed insulation, or areas where the wire might be rubbing against the tractor frame or tire.

   Disconnect the electrical connector at the left fender switch. Turn the tractor key to the ON position. Use a multimeter to probe the signal wire on the harness side. If you read 12V (battery voltage) on the signal wire while the switch is unplugged, the short to Vbat is located in the wiring harness.

   If the harness tests fine, test the switch itself for internal shorts. Check for continuity across the switch terminals without pressing the button. If there is continuity (a closed circuit) without operator input, the switch has failed internally.

   Power Down

   Turn off the tractor and disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent electrical spikes during the repair.

   Access the Switch

   Locate the faulty left external fender switch on the rear fender housing.

   Disconnect

   Unplug the wiring harness connector from the back of the switch.

   Remove the Switch

   Depress the retaining tabs or remove the mounting screws/bezels holding the switch into the fender panel, and push the switch out of its mounting hole.

   Repair Wiring (If Applicable)

   If the diagnostic checks revealed a harness short, locate the damaged section of the wire. Cut out the exposed/shorted section, splice in a new piece of wire using weather-resistant heat-shrink butt connectors, and re-loom the harness.

   Install New Part

   Snap or screw the new replacement fender switch into the fender housing.

   Reconnect

   Plug the electrical connector back into the new switch. Ensure the weather seal is seated properly.

   Clear Codes and Test

   Reconnect the battery. Turn the key on, clear the fault codes from the CCM/EDC using the tractor's diagnostic menu or a scan tool, and test the fender switch to ensure the hitch/PTO operates correctly and the 1075 code does not return.
