Case IH 1076 – Transmission Control Module (TCM) or Chassis Control Module (CCM): Left external fender switch unexpected value

The control module is receiving a signal from the left rear fender switch that falls outside the expected normal operating parameters. This is typically caused by high resistance due to internal switch corrosion, water ingress, or a degraded wire in the harness.

   Inspect the left rear fender switch for physical damage, cracked rubber weather boots, or signs of water ingress

   Disconnect the switch and inspect the wiring harness connector for dirt, moisture, or corroded pins

   Trace the wiring harness from the fender switch back to the chassis module to check for chafing, pinched wires, or degraded insulation

   Use a multimeter to test the resistance of the switch in both the open and closed (pressed) positions to identify internal corrosion

   Verify that the correct reference voltage and ground are present at the connector when the tractor key is in the ON position

   Power Down

   Turn off the tractor, remove the key, and disconnect the battery to prevent accidental short circuits or unexpected hitch movement.

   Access the Switch

   Locate the left external fender switch on the rear fender. Depending on the tractor model, you may need to reach behind the fender panel or remove a small protective mud-guard to access the rear of the switch.

   Disconnect

   Unplug the wiring harness connector from the back of the switch.

   Remove the Switch

   Squeeze the plastic retaining tabs or remove the locking bezel/nut securing the switch to the fender housing. Push the old switch out through the front of the mounting hole.

   Install the New Switch

   Insert the new OEM replacement switch into the fender hole until it clicks securely into place.

   Reconnect

   Plug the wiring harness back into the switch, ensuring the weather-tight seal is fully seated.

   Test

   Reconnect the battery, turn the ignition ON, and clear the stored fault codes. Test the external raise/lower or PTO function to confirm the repair.
