Case IH 1081 – CCH: Right draft pin offset voltage is outside the expected voltage range. (CCH Only)
Issue description
This code indicates that the baseline (offset) voltage signal coming from the right draft pin sensor is drifting outside of the controller's normal operating window. When the voltage falls out of range, it typically points to an internal failure of the sensor, moisture intrusion into the sensor housing/wiring, or a wiring harness issue (such as high resistance or a short).
Applies to these machines
7 machines- Magnum
- Magnum 190
- Magnum 235
- Magnum 275
- Magnum 340
- MX Magnum
- TG series
Check the cause
Inspect the right draft pin sensor and its wiring for moisture entering the wire hole of the sensor.
Disconnect the triangular electrical connector at the right draft pin and check for corrosion, dirt, or water inside the plug.
Verify the wiring harness integrity between the sensor and the CCH module (Pin C: Power supply, Pin B: Signal input, Pin A: Ground). Check for continuity, shorts to ground, or shorts to power.
Check if code 1085 or 1083 are also present, which could point to a shared power/ground issue rather than a single failed pin.
Repair steps
Prepare tractor
Park the tractor on a level surface, fully lower the 3-point hitch to remove all mechanical load from the lower link arms, and turn off the engine.
Disconnect harness
Disconnect the electrical harness from the right draft pin sensor.
Remove retaining hardware
Support the right lower link arm. Remove the retaining hardware (usually a retaining bolt/plate) holding the draft pin in place.
Remove faulty sensor
Slide the faulty right draft pin out of the hitch assembly.
Install new sensor
Clean the bore and install the new OEM draft pin sensor.
Reinstall hardware and reconnect
Reinstall the retaining hardware and reconnect the electrical harness. Apply dielectric grease to the connector to prevent future moisture intrusion.
Calibrate EDC
Perform the EDC (Electronic Draft Control) calibration procedure via the tractor's Pro 700/1200 display, as the CCH must learn the new offset voltage of the replacement pin.
Option B: Disconnect harness
If Draft Control is not needed, disconnect the wiring harness from the faulty right draft pin.
Option B: Plug elimination kit
Plug an aftermarket "Draft Load Sensing Pin Elimination Kit" module directly into the tractor's wiring harness.
Option B: Secure module
Zip-tie the module safely out of the way under the cab. This feeds a fixed, "normal" voltage back to the CCH, permanently clearing code 1081 while allowing normal up/down position control of the hitch.
