Case IH 1082 – CCH: Left draft pin offset voltage is outside the expected voltage range. (CCH Only)

Issue description

The electronic draft control (EDC) system is receiving an abnormal voltage signal from the left draft pin (load sensing pin) on the 3-point hitch. When the offset voltage falls outside the programmed normal operating range, the system logs this fault and may disable draft control functions.

  • Magnum
  • Case IH Magnum Series: 215, 235, 245, 250, 255, 260, 275, 280, 290, 315, 340 (including Series 4)
  • Case IH MX Magnum Series: MX180 through MX305

Check the cause

  1. Inspect the left draft pin sensor located on the lower left lift link of the 3-point hitch for physical damage to the pin or the wiring pigtail.

  2. Disconnect the left draft pin sensor and check the connector for moisture, dirt, or corrosion, as moisture entering the wire hole is a common cause of failure.

  3. Verify the wiring harness back to the controller for continuity and correct voltage (Pin A: Ground, Pin B: Signal Input, Pin C: Power Supply).

  4. Check if the EDC requires calibration (often accompanied by code 1085), as a simple hitch calibration can sometimes resolve offset voltage errors if the sensor has not completely failed.

Repair steps

  1. Lower hitch

    Lower the 3-point hitch to the ground to relieve any horizontal or vertical load on the lower lift links.

  2. Disconnect harness

    Disconnect the wiring harness from the left draft pin sensor.

  3. Remove draft pin

    Remove the retaining hardware holding the left draft pin in the lower link bracket and slide the old draft pin out (you may need to relieve pressure on the lower link to free the pin).

  4. Install new sensor

    Install the new OEM draft pin sensor and secure the retaining hardware.

  5. Reconnect harness

    Apply dielectric grease to the electrical connector to prevent moisture intrusion, then reconnect the harness.

  6. Calibrate EDC

    Perform an EDC (Electronic Draft Control) hitch calibration using the tractor's display monitor or a diagnostic service tool to map the new sensor's voltage range.

  7. Install eliminator kit (Alternative)

    If draft control is not needed, unplug the wiring harness from the defective left draft pin, plug the Draft Load Sensing Pin Eliminator module directly into the tractor's harness, and zip-tie the module safely out of the way.
