Case IH 1083 – Hitch Controller / EDC (Electronic Draft Control) Module: Left and right draft pin offset voltage is outside the expected voltage range. (CCH Only)
Issue description
The tractor's Electronic Draft Control (EDC) system uses load-sensing pins on the lower links of the 3-point hitch to measure the pulling force (draft) of an implement. This code indicates that the voltage signals returning from both the left and right draft sensing pins are simultaneously outside of their calibrated or normal operating parameters. The "CCH Only" designation indicates this code applies specifically to tractors equipped with Closed Center Hydraulics.

Check the cause
Inspect for Moisture: Disconnect the harness at the draft pins and check for water, corrosion, or dirt.
Harness Continuity Test: Test the wire harness running from the hitch controller to the draft pins for damaged wires, shorts to ground, or shorts to power.
Check for Accompanying Codes: Look for code 1085 ('EDC require calibration'). Sometimes a simple hitch recalibration can resolve offset voltage errors if the sensors have drifted but haven't completely failed.
Repair steps
Lower 3-point hitch
Option A (Sensor Replacement): Lower the 3-point hitch to the ground to relieve all pressure and weight from the lower link arms.
Disconnect electrical connectors
Disconnect the electrical connectors from both the left and right draft sensing pins.
Remove retaining hardware
Remove the retaining hardware holding the draft pins to the tractor chassis/lower links.
Remove old draft pins
Slide the old draft pins out.
Install new draft pins
Install the new draft sensing pins and secure the retaining hardware.
Reconnect harness and apply dielectric grease
Reconnect the electrical harness. Apply dielectric grease to the connectors to prevent future moisture intrusion.
Perform EDC / Hitch Calibration
Perform an EDC / Hitch Calibration via the tractor's display monitor to teach the controller the new baseline offset voltages.
Purchase elimination kit
Option B (Draft Pin Elimination - If draft control is NOT used): Purchase a 'Draft Load Sensing Pin Elimination Kit' (dummy modules).
Unplug factory wiring harness
Unplug the factory wiring harness from the left and right draft pins.
Plug in elimination modules
Plug the elimination modules directly into the tractor's wiring harness.
Secure elimination modules
Zip-tie the modules securely under the cab to keep them dry and out of the way. The diagnostic system will no longer detect defective pins, and draft sensing will be disabled.
