Case IH 1099 – ARM (Armrest Controller): Aux remote valve LIMIT SET switch is failed
Issue description
This code indicates that the switch located on the armrest—used to set the flow, timer, or travel limits for the auxiliary remote valves (SCVs)—is sending an illogical, out-of-range, or missing signal to the controller. This is typically caused by an internal short/open in the switch, a wiring harness issue, or a stuck button.

- TG Series
Check the cause
Inspect the Aux remote valve LIMIT SET switch on the armrest console for physical damage, sticking buttons, or debris lodged around the switch.
Remove the armrest cover and inspect the wiring harness leading from the switch to the Armrest Controller (ARM) for chafed wires, pinched harnesses, or loose/corroded pins at the connector.
Using a multimeter, verify the reference voltage (typically 5V) and ground at the switch connector, and test the switch for continuity to ensure it opens and closes properly.
Look for broader controller codes (such as ARM 10091 - Armrest Controller 5V regulator failure) to rule out a controller power supply or CAN-bus communication issue.
Use the Case IH Electronic Service Tool (EST) or the tractor's onboard diagnostic display to monitor the live state of the LIMIT SET switch and verify if the controller registers the switch state changing.
Repair steps
Disconnect Power
Turn off the ignition and disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent electrical shorts.
Access the Armrest Internals
Remove the retaining screws on the underside or perimeter of the armrest control console to lift off the top cover/trim plate.
Locate the Switch
Identify the Aux remote valve LIMIT SET switch assembly.
Disconnect and Remove
Unplug the electrical pigtail/connector from the switch. Depress the retaining tabs or remove the mounting screws holding the switch into the armrest bezel, and pull the switch out.
Install the New Part
Snap or screw the replacement switch into the armrest bezel. Reconnect the electrical connector, ensuring it clicks securely into place.
Reassembly
Carefully reinstall the armrest cover, ensuring no wires are pinched in the housing. Secure all screws.
Test and Clear Codes
Reconnect the battery. Turn the key to the ON position. Use the tractor's diagnostic display or EST to clear the 1099 fault code. Test the auxiliary remote limit settings to confirm the switch is functioning and the code does not return.
