Case IH 11 – Multiple (Transmission, Hitch/Central, Engine, Guidance): Multiple Definitions (Master Clutch Potentiometer, Height Limit Control, Engine Controller Failure, Guidance Communication)

Fault Code 11 has multiple definitions depending on the logging ECU. TRANS 11 indicates a Master Clutch Potentiometer open circuit or short to ground. Hitch/Central Code 11 indicates height limit control voltage high. ENG 11 indicates an engine controller hardware failure. Guidance Code 11 indicates the lightbar failed to receive system fault messages.    For Transmission (TRANS 11): Inspect the master clutch potentiometer wiring for an open circuit or a short to ground.

   For Hitch/Height Control (Code 11): Test the height limit control potentiometer circuit for a short to +12V in the harness.

   For Guidance/EZ-Steer (Code 11): Check that none of the cables are damaged and ensure all connectors between the controller and the lightbar are tight.

   Identify the Source

   Use your diagnostic tool or AFS Pro display to determine which module (TRANS, ENG, HITCH, or GUIDANCE) is logging Code 11.

   Inspect Wiring

   Trace the harness for the affected component (Master Clutch Potentiometer or Height Limit Potentiometer). Look for rubbed wires, corrosion at the connector, or pinched lines.

   Replace the Component

   If the wiring tests good (no open circuits or shorts to power/ground), the potentiometer itself has failed internally and must be replaced.

   Guidance System Protocol

   If dealing with the EZ-Steer Code 11 and cable checks do not resolve the issue, download the error log to a USB flash drive and provide it to your Case IH precision farming reseller.

   Clear and Calibrate

   Once the physical repair is made, you must clear the error codes from the system memory. If a clutch or hitch potentiometer was replaced, perform the respective transmission clutch fill calibration or hitch calibration procedure.
