1100

Case IH 1100 – CCH: EDC Top Link switch stuck on fault. (CCH Only)

Issue description

The Electronic Draft Control (EDC) Top Link switch is sending a continuous, uninterrupted "On" (closed) signal to the controller. This is typically caused by a switch that is physically jammed by debris, internally shorted, or a wiring harness that has shorted to power.

Applies to these machines

  • Magnum
  • Magnum 235
  • Magnum 260
  • Magnum 290
  • Magnum 315
  • Magnum 340

Check the cause

  1. Check the EDC Top Link switch for physical damage, dirt, or debris that might be wedging the button in the depressed position.

  2. Firmly press and release the switch several times to see if it mechanically frees up.

  3. Disconnect the switch from the wiring harness and use a digital multimeter to test for continuity. If it shows continuity when not pressed, the switch is internally shorted.

  4. If the switch tests fine, probe the wiring harness leading back to the CCH module for a short to voltage (B+) or pinched wires.

Repair steps

  1. Power Down

Turn off the tractor ignition and disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent electrical spikes.

  2. Access the Switch

Locate the faulty EDC Top Link switch. Depending on whether the fault is tracing to the cab armrest or the rear fender remote, carefully pry off the surrounding plastic bezel or remove the retaining screws for the control pod.

  3. Disconnect

Unplug the electrical pigtail connector from the back of the switch. Inspect the harness connector for corrosion or melted pins.

  4. Remove

Squeeze the plastic retaining tabs on the sides of the switch body and push it outward through the front of the panel.

  5. Install

Push the new switch into the panel cutout until the retaining tabs click securely into place.

  6. Reconnect

Plug the electrical harness back into the switch.

  7. Test

Reconnect the battery, turn the key to the ON position, and use the tractor's diagnostic display to clear the inactive fault codes. Test the Top Link hitch function to ensure proper operation and verify that Code 1100 does not return.

Parts you might need

(1)
  • EDC Top Link Switch / Hitch Control Switch

Specific OEM part numbers vary heavily based on whether it is the fender-mounted remote switch or the cab armrest switch. Verify the exact position of the switch with the machine's VIN/PIN.
