1101

Case IH 1101 – ATC (Advanced Tractor Control): EDC Top Link switch input conflict fault.(CCH Only)

Issue description

This fault indicates an input conflict from the Electronic Draft Control (EDC) Top Link switch. The controller is receiving contradictory signals from the switch (such as both 'raise' and 'lower' commands simultaneously) or an implausible voltage that suggests a short or open circuit.

Applies to these machines

  • Magnum
  • Magnum 235
  • Magnum 260
  • Magnum 290
  • Magnum 315
  • Magnum 340
  • Magnum 380

Check the cause

  1. Inspect the EDC Top Link switch (located on the rear fender or rear hitch control area) for physical damage, sticking, or being jammed in one position.

  2. Cycle the switch manually several times to free up any stuck internal contacts causing the conflict.

  3. Inspect the wiring harness and electrical connectors (X-403 LH Fender Top Link Switch connector or X-245 EHR/EDC Switch connector) for damaged wires, bent pins, or loose connections.

  4. Test the switch inputs to the ATC controller using a multimeter for shorts to ground, shorts to +12V power, or open circuits.

Repair steps

  1. Disconnect Power

Disconnect the tractor's battery to prevent electrical shorts during repair.

  2. Access the Switch

Locate the faulty EDC Top Link switch on the rear fender or cab control panel.

  3. Test/Replace

Disconnect the switch from the wiring harness. Use a multimeter to test for proper continuity when the switch is toggled. If the switch fails continuity testing or is physically stuck, remove the mounting hardware and replace the switch.

  4. Harness Repair

If the switch tests good, trace the wiring harness back to the ATC module. Repair any chafed wires or replace damaged connector housings (such as the 10-way Carlingswitch connector).

  5. Reassembly and Clearing

Reconnect the switch and battery. Turn the key on and clear the fault codes from the ATC module. Test the hitch raise/lower functions to ensure the conflict is resolved.

Parts you might need

(4)
  • EDC Top Link Switch / Remote Hitch Control Fender Switch

Fender switch designs vary depending on whether the tractor has standard or narrow fender extensions. Always verify the exact switch and connector part numbers against the tractor's serial number in the Case IH parts catalog.
