11012

Case IH 11012 – Armrest Controller (TMF) or Auxiliary Remote Controllers (AUX67 or AUX89): 1st remote MODE LEVER potentiometer is failed high.

Issue description

The controller is receiving a signal voltage from the 1st remote valve's mode lever potentiometer that exceeds the maximum allowable threshold (typically near or above a 5V reference limit), indicating an open ground, short to power, or internal failure.

Applies to these machines

  • STX Steiger
  • Case IH Magnum series
  • Case IH Puma series
  • Case IH Steiger series
  • Case IH Maxxum series

Check the cause

  1. Remove the armrest cover and visually inspect the wiring harness leading to the 1st remote mode lever for pinched wires, chafing, or disconnected pins.

  2. Perform a ground circuit test using a multimeter at the potentiometer connector (an open ground causes the signal voltage to default high).

  3. Test the signal wire for a short to the 5V reference or 12V power supply.

  4. Perform a potentiometer sweep test by back-probing the signal wire with the connector plugged in (key ON, engine OFF). Move the lever through its full range; voltage should scale smoothly between 0.5V and 4.5V. If stuck at 5.0V or drops out entirely, the potentiometer is internally failed.

Repair steps

  1. Power Down

Turn off the tractor, remove the key, and disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent shorting sensitive armrest electronics.

  2. Access the Armrest

Remove the retaining screws for the right-hand armrest control console cover. Carefully lift the cover to expose the electro-hydraulic (EH) remote levers.

  3. Disconnect the Lever

Locate the 1st remote lever (usually color-coded, often blue or green depending on the stack position). Unplug the electrical connector at the base of the lever assembly.

  4. Remove the Assembly

Remove the mounting screws or retaining bracket holding the lever/potentiometer assembly in the armrest housing.

  5. Install the New Part

Seat the new potentiometer or complete EH lever assembly into the bracket and tighten the mounting hardware.

  6. Reassemble and Calibrate

Plug the electrical connector back in, reinstall the armrest cover, and reconnect the battery.

  7. Calibration

Turn the key ON. Navigate to the tractor's Pro 700 / AFS display monitor (or use the dealer electronic service tool) to perform a 'Remote Valve Lever Calibration' so the controller can learn the new potentiometer's exact minimum, maximum, and neutral voltage values. Clear the inactive 11012 fault code.
