Case IH 11013 – Steering Controller / Guidance Module: Articulation Potentiometer Voltage Too Low
Issue description
The voltage signal measured on the low side of the articulation potentiometer has fallen out of the acceptable range (typically near or below the 0-volt limit), preventing the system from accurately determining the tractor's steering angle.

Check the cause
Inspect the sensor harness at the articulation joint for corroded pins, moisture, or broken wires (a disconnected sensor or open circuit will cause a voltage too low condition)
Verify that the sensor has not been mechanically over-rotated due to a bent or improperly adjusted mechanical linkage
Inspect the mechanical linkage connecting the sensor to the frame for binding or disconnection
Repair steps
Secure the Machine
Park the tractor on a hard, level surface that is free of obstructions. Install the articulation lock block/pin to prevent accidental crushing at the hinge joint.
Remove the Faulty Sensor
Disconnect the electrical connector from the articulation potentiometer. Disconnect the mechanical linkage eyelet from the sensor's control arm, then unbolt and remove the sensor from its mounting bracket.
Install the New Sensor
Mount the replacement potentiometer to the bracket.
Adjust the Linkage
Reconnect the mechanical linkage. Ensure the linkage length is adjusted so that the sensor operates within its safe voltage range. You may need to shorten or lengthen the mechanical linkage to produce less sensor rotation, ensuring it does not hit the 0-volt or 5.0-volt limits at maximum left/right articulation.
Reconnect Wiring
Plug the electrical harness back into the sensor.
Perform Calibration
Remove the articulation lock. Using the tractor's display (e.g., Pro 700, Pro 1200, or AccuGuide interface), navigate to the Steering Sensor Calibration menu. Follow the on-screen prompts to steer fully left, fully right, and center the tractor. This teaches the controller the new voltage limits for the replacement sensor.
