1102

Case IH 1102 – Hitch Controller / EDC (Electronic Draft Control) Controller: EDC Side (Lift) Link switch stuck on fault.(CCH Only)

Issue description

This fault code indicates that the Electronic Draft Control (EDC) Side Link switch (used for raising or lowering the hitch) is stuck in the "ON" position or its circuit is shorted. The controller detects a continuous, uninterrupted signal from the switch that exceeds the normal momentary operation time, triggering a fault to prevent unintended implement movement.

Applies to these machines

  • Magnum
  • Case IH Magnum Series 4 (Models 235, 250, 280, 310, 340, 380)

Check the cause

  1. Inspect the EDC Side Link switch (on the rear fender or armrest console) for physical damage, dirt, or debris wedging the button in the depressed position.

  2. Repeatedly press and release the switch to see if it frees up a stuck internal contact.

  3. Disconnect the switch from the wiring harness and use a multimeter to test for continuity across the switch terminals. If it shows continuity without being pressed, the switch has failed internally.

  4. If the switch tests fine, check the wiring harness leading back to the EDC controller for a short to a 12V power source or a short to ground.

Repair steps

  1. Power Down

Turn off the tractor, remove the key, and disconnect the battery to prevent accidental short circuits.

  2. Access the Switch

Locate the faulty EDC Side Link switch (either on the rear fender extension or inside the cab armrest, depending on which switch is flagged).

  3. Remove the Switch

Carefully pry the switch out of its mounting bezel or remove the retaining screws holding the switch housing to the fender/console.

  4. Disconnect

Unplug the electrical connector from the back of the switch. Inspect the connector pins for corrosion or bent terminals.

  5. Replace

Plug the wiring harness into the new OEM replacement switch.

  6. Reinstall

Snap or screw the new switch back into its mounting location.

  7. Test

Reconnect the battery, turn the key to the ON position, and clear the stored fault codes. Test the EDC lift function to ensure the hitch raises and lowers correctly and that the code does not return.
