Case IH 11020 – Armrest Controller (ARM): Hitch Drop Rate potentiometer is failed in the Armrest Controller

The controller is receiving an invalid, out-of-range signal (voltage too high or too low) from the potentiometer responsible for controlling the drop speed of the 3-point hitch.

   Check for related fault codes (e.g., ARM 10091 for 5V regulator failure, or 18020/18021 for specific voltage issues) that indicate a broader electrical issue rather than a single failed component.

   Check calibration status for codes like ARM 9041 indicating out-of-range calibration values.

   Inspect the wiring harness connecting the armrest controller to the tractor's main data bus for shorts to ground or power.

   Clear inactive fault codes using the tractor display or Electronic Service Tool (EST) and attempt to recalibrate the hitch before replacing parts.

   Power Down

   Turn off the tractor and disconnect the battery to prevent electrical shorts while working on the armrest console.

   Access the Armrest Console

   Remove the retaining screws and carefully lift the cover of the right-hand armrest console to access the internal controls and circuit boards.

   Locate the Component

   Identify the Hitch Drop Rate potentiometer on the Electronic Draft Control (EDC) panel.

   Remove the Failed Potentiometer

   Pull off the external control knob. Disconnect the electrical connector from the back of the potentiometer. Remove the retaining nut, washer, and spacer holding the potentiometer to the console panel.

   Install the New Part

   Insert the new potentiometer into the panel, secure it with the retaining hardware, and reattach the control knob.

   Reconnect Wiring

   Plug the electrical harness back into the new potentiometer.

   Reassemble

   Carefully reinstall the armrest console cover and secure it with the screws.

   Clear Codes and Calibrate

   Reconnect the battery. Use the tractor's display or the EST to clear the 11020 fault code. You MUST perform the Hitch Calibration procedure for the Armrest Controller to learn the new potentiometer's voltage range.
