11020

Case IH 11020 – Armrest Controller: Aux 2nd remote valve LEVER potentiometer is failed in the Armrest Controller

Issue description

The armrest controller is receiving an out-of-range voltage signal from the potentiometer that monitors the physical position of the 2nd auxiliary remote hydraulic lever. The system flags a failure and disables the 2nd remote valve to prevent unintended hydraulic operation.

Applies to these machines

  • MX Magnum
  • STX Steiger
  • MX Magnum Series
  • STX Steiger Series
  • TG Series
  • Puma Series

Check the cause

  1. Perform a live voltage test using the tractor's performance monitor or diagnostic menu to verify if the 2nd remote lever potentiometer voltage is stuck at 0V (open/short to ground) or 5V (short to power).

  2. Inspect the sub-harness inside the armrest for chafing or pinch points, and check the connector at the base of the 2nd lever for loose, bent, or partially inserted pins.

  3. Disconnect the lever and test the potentiometer's resistance sweep with a multimeter to confirm if it has an internal open or short circuit.

  4. Attempt to recalibrate the lever by entering the Armrest Controller Calibration menu and running the 'AUX LEVER' calibration to see if the controller can relearn the high and low limits.

Repair steps

  1. Disconnect Power

Turn the key switch OFF and disconnect the tractor's battery ground cable to prevent short circuits.

  2. Access the Armrest Internals

Remove the retaining screws on the underside or side profile of the armrest console to lift the upper control panel.

  3. Remove the Faulty Lever

Locate the 2nd auxiliary remote lever module. Disconnect its electrical connector. Remove the mounting screws/clips securing the lever assembly to the armrest chassis.

  4. Install the New Part

Seat the new lever/potentiometer assembly into the armrest and secure the mounting hardware.

  5. Reconnect Wiring

Plug the harness connector into the new lever, ensuring the locking tab clicks into place. Reassemble the armrest console.

  6. Calibrate the New Potentiometer

Reconnect the battery. Turn the key switch to the ON position. Within the first 10 seconds, enter the Armrest Controller Calibration main menu.

  7. Navigate to the AUX LEVER menu

Follow the on-screen prompts to cycle the 2nd remote lever fully forward and fully backward. This saves the new high and low voltage parameters to the controller.

  8. Test the 2nd remote valve

Cycle the key OFF, then start the tractor and test the 2nd remote valve for proper operation.

Parts you might need

(1)
  • Auxiliary Remote Valve Lever Assembly / Remote Lever Potentiometer

On most modern Case IH armrests, the potentiometer is integrated directly into the remote valve lever module and is not serviced separately from the lever itself. You will typically need to order the complete 'Remote Valve Lever' module.
