Case IH 11022 – Auxiliary Remote Valve Controller / Armrest Controller: 2nd remote MODE LEVER potentiometer is failed high.
Issue description
The potentiometer (sensor) monitoring the physical position of the 2nd electro-hydraulic remote (EHR) lever in the cab is sending a voltage signal that is higher than the acceptable programmed range. This usually points to a failing potentiometer, a short to power in the wiring, or an open ground circuit.
Applies to these machines
6 machines- STX Steiger
- Magnum Series (e.g., MX, Series 4)
- Steiger / Quadtrac Series
- Puma Series
- Maxxum Series
- Optum Series
Check the cause
Ensure the 2nd remote lever physically returns to the center (neutral) position without binding.
Attempt to recalibrate the remote valves using the tractor's A-post display or Pro700 monitor. If the display indicates the lever is out of neutral when physically centered, the potentiometer is actively failing.
Access the armrest internals and inspect the wiring harness leading to the 2nd remote lever for rubbed wires causing a short to a 12V power source or a broken ground wire.
Unplug the lever and check the connector pins for corrosion, bent pins, or moisture.
Repair steps
Power Down
Turn off the tractor and disconnect the battery to prevent electrical shorts while working inside the armrest.
Access the Armrest
Remove the retaining screws on the armrest control console cover to expose the internal Electro-Hydraulic Remote (EHR) lever assemblies.
Remove the Faulty Lever
Locate the 2nd remote lever assembly. Disconnect its electrical connector. Remove the mounting hardware (usually small hex or Torx screws) securing the lever to the armrest bracket.
Install the New Part
Install the replacement remote lever/potentiometer assembly. Secure the mounting hardware and plug in the electrical connector.
Reassemble
Carefully reinstall the armrest cover, ensuring no wires are pinched. Reconnect the battery.
Mandatory Calibration
You must calibrate the new remote lever. Via A-Post (if applicable): Hold the PROG key while turning the ignition ON. Navigate to the 'ARM' section to find the calibration menu. Move the lever fully back, fully forward, and then let it return to neutral. Turn the key off and wait 30 seconds before restarting. Via Dealer Tool: Some models/valves may require the Case IH remote valve calibration tool (CAS2806 transducer) plugged into the rear test port to complete the hydraulic flow calibration.
