Case IH 11022 – Auxiliary Valve Controller (AUX / EHR) / Engine Controller (ENG): 2nd remote MODE LEVER potentiometer is failed high / Decelerator Position Sensor voltage is too high

For 11022: The auxiliary hydraulic controller detects that the potentiometer for the 2nd remote mode lever is shorted to power or has an open ground. For ENG 131/133: The Engine Control Unit receives a voltage signal from the decelerator position potentiometer that exceeds the maximum expected threshold (typically > 4.5V on a 5V reference circuit), indicating an internal short, a signal wire shorted to power, or a lost ground.

   Inspect the decelerator pedal (foot throttle) in the cab to ensure no dirt, debris, or floor mats are wedged under the pedal, preventing it from returning to its resting position

   Unplug the decelerator potentiometer and inspect the pins for corrosion, moisture, or pushed-out terminals

   Using a multimeter, check the 5V reference wire from the ECU to ensure it is supplying exactly 5 volts

   Check the ground wire for continuity to the chassis/ECU ground (an open ground is the most common cause of a 'voltage too high' code)

   Check the signal wire for a short to voltage

   Perform a sweep test: connect a multimeter to the sensor's signal and ground pins, then slowly depress the pedal. If resistance/voltage spikes to maximum immediately or reads open/infinite, the potentiometer has failed internally

   Disconnect Power

   Turn off the ignition and disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent electrical spikes.

   Access the Sensor

   Locate the decelerator pedal assembly on the cab floor. You may need to remove the lower console trim or rubber boot to access the sensor mounting bracket.

   Remove the Sensor

   Disconnect the wiring harness from the potentiometer. Remove the mounting screws (typically M4 hex socket head screws) securing the sensor to the pedal bracket.

   Install the New Sensor

   Align the drive tang/slot of the new potentiometer with the pedal's pivot shaft. Secure it with the mounting screws.

   Reconnect

   Plug the electrical harness back in and reconnect the battery.

   Calibration

   Turn the key to the ON position. Using the tractor's AFS Pro monitor or a dealer diagnostic tool, navigate to the throttle/decelerator calibration menu. You will be prompted to fully release the pedal to set the minimum voltage, and fully depress it to set the maximum voltage.

   Clear Codes

   Clear the inactive ENG 131/133 codes and test the pedal operation.
