Case IH 1103 – Hitch Controller / Electronic Draft Control (EDC) module: EDC Side Link switch input conflict fault.(CCH Only)

Issue description

The Electronic Draft Control (EDC) system is receiving contradictory or implausible electrical signals from the Side Link switch (e.g., sending both a 'raise' and 'lower' signal simultaneously, or the voltage is outside the expected logic parameters). This fault specifically applies to tractors equipped with the Cab Control Hitch configuration.

Check the cause

  1. Inspect the EDC Side Link switch (on rear fender or cab hitch control pod) for physical damage, sticking buttons, or packed dirt/debris holding the switch partially engaged.

  2. Disconnect the switch and inspect the electrical connector for water ingress, bent pins, or corrosion. Inspect the wiring harness for chafing, pinched wires, or melted insulation causing a short.

  3. Test the switch's internal contacts with a multimeter to verify it opens and closes correctly and does not show continuity on conflicting circuits simultaneously.

  4. Connect the Case IH Electronic Service Tool (EST) and monitor live data for the EDC Side Link switch inputs, watching for flickering signals or dual inputs while at rest.
