1104

Case IH 1104 – EDC (Electronic Draft Control) / Hitch Controller: 12VU1 voltage supply to the EDC Lift Link raise and lower coils is low. (possible blown fuse*)(CCH Only)

Issue description

The voltage supplied on the 12VU1 power circuit to the raise and lower solenoid coils of the Electronic Draft Control (EDC) Lift Link has dropped below the normal operating threshold (typically below 8 volts). The system flags this primarily as a blown fuse or a severe voltage drop on that specific circuit.

Applies to these machines

  • Magnum
  • Case IH Magnum 235
  • Case IH Magnum 260
  • Case IH Magnum 290
  • Case IH Magnum 315
  • Case IH Magnum 340

Check the cause

  1. Check the specific fuse assigned to the 12VU1 power supply for the EDC/Hitch controller

  2. Inspect the wiring harness running from the EDC controller to the lift link raise and lower coils for chafing, pinched wires, or shorts to ground

  3. Measure the resistance of the EDC raise and lower coils with a multimeter to ensure they are not internally shorted

  4. Verify battery voltage and ensure main power relays (like the PWR Control Relay) are delivering full voltage

Repair steps

  1. Turn off tractor

Turn off the tractor and remove the key.

  2. Locate fuse

Access the main fuse/relay panel (or the UCM enclosure, depending on exact model configuration) and locate the 12VU1 circuit fuse.

  3. Inspect and repair wiring

If the fuse is blown, trace the wiring harness to the EDC valve block at the rear of the tractor. Repair any damaged or shorted wiring.

  4. Test and replace coils

If the wiring is intact, test the raise/lower solenoid coils. If a coil fails the resistance test (shorted), replace the faulty coil or the EDC control valve assembly.

  5. Install new fuse

Install a new fuse of the correct OEM-specified amperage.

  6. Clear fault codes

Turn the ignition ON. Access the tractor's diagnostic menu to clear the stored fault codes.

  7. Verify repair

Operate the rear hitch through its full range of motion to verify the repair and ensure the 1104 code does not return.
