Case IH 11040 – Armrest Controller: Aux 4th remote valve LEVER potentiometer has failed

The system is receiving an out-of-range, shorted, or open signal from the sensor that monitors the physical position of the 4th hydraulic remote control lever inside the cab.

   Check the A-Post Display to see if the tractor prompts to 'move EHR to neutral' or if the green cylinder light stays illuminated when the 4th lever is physically in the neutral position.

   Swap the electrical plug of the 4th lever with the 3rd lever inside the armrest to isolate the issue to the lever itself rather than the wiring harness or rear remote valve.

   Attempt to recalibrate the lever via the A-post menu by holding the 'prog' key while turning the ignition ON, navigating to 'ARM', cycling the levers fully back and forward, and returning to neutral.

   Power down the tractor and disconnect the battery.

   Disassemble the upper housing/cover of the armrest console to access the remote lever modules.

   Disconnect the wiring harness plug from the bottom of the 4th remote valve lever.

   Unbolt and remove the faulty lever assembly.

   On most modern Case IH armrests, the potentiometer is integrated into the lever/joystick assembly and is replaced as a single unit.

   Install the new control lever and reconnect the wiring harness.

   Reassemble the armrest console.

   Perform the 'Electro-Hydraulic Remote Valve Lever Calibration' procedure.

   This must be done (either via the A-post menu or using a Case IH diagnostic tool) so the Armrest Controller can learn the new potentiometer's exact voltage values for the forward, neutral, and reverse positions.
