Case IH 1106 – CCH (Central Controller Hitch / Chassis Controller Hitch): 12VH1 voltage supply to the EDC Top/Side Link load compensation is low
Issue description
The controller is detecting insufficient voltage on the 12VH1 power rail, which supplies the rear hitch's load compensation system. The most common cause for this condition is a blown fuse, but it can also be triggered by a short to ground in the wiring harness or an internal short within the EDC Top/Side Link load compensation sensor/valve itself.

Check the cause
Locate the tractor's fuse panel and identify the specific fuse protecting the 12VH1 circuit to check if it is blown (most common cause).
If the fuse is blown, inspect the wiring harness running from the CCH controller to the rear hitch EDC Top/Side Link components for chafed insulation, pinched wires, or corrosion (short to ground cause).
Disconnect the connector at the EDC Top/Side Link load compensation valve/sensor and use a multimeter to check the component for an internal short to ground (internal component short cause).
With a good fuse installed and the key ON, measure the voltage at the harness connector to verify that a full 12 volts is reaching the component (voltage supply check).
Repair steps
Power Down
Turn off the tractor, remove the key, and engage the parking brake.
Replace the Fuse
If the 12VH1 fuse is blown, replace it with a new fuse of the exact same amperage rating.
Isolate the Short
Turn the key to the ON position. If the new fuse blows immediately, you have a hard short to ground in the circuit.
Repair Wiring
Trace the wiring from the CCH to the rear hitch. If you find damaged wires, repair them using an OEM-approved environmental splice kit, or replace that section of the harness.
Replace Component
If the wiring tests perfectly fine but the fuse continues to blow when the EDC Top/Side Link is plugged in, the load compensation component is internally shorted and must be replaced.
Clear Codes and Test
Once the repair is made, use the Case IH Electronic Service Tool (EST) to clear the inactive 1106 fault code. Cycle the rear hitch through its full range of motion to ensure the load compensation system operates correctly and the code does not return.
