11061

Case IH 11061 – AUX67 or AUX89: 1st remote FLOW potentiometer is failed low

Issue description

The controller is receiving a voltage signal from the flow control potentiometer (located in the armrest for the first electro-hydraulic remote valve) that is below the acceptable minimum threshold. This typically points to a failed potentiometer, an open circuit, or a short to ground in the wiring.

Applies to these machines

  • STX Steiger
  • Magnum
  • Steiger
  • Puma
  • Maxxum
  • Optum

Check the cause

  1. Inspect the wiring harness and connector leading to the 1st remote flow potentiometer inside the armrest for pinched wires, loose pins, or a short to ground.

  2. Check the potentiometer for physical damage or a dead spot.

  3. Attempt to recalibrate the remote valves via the A-post display to see if the controller can read the potentiometer's sweep. If the A-post display shows the remote is stuck in a specific position or fails calibration, the potentiometer is likely internally failed.

Repair steps

  1. Power Down

Turn off the tractor and disconnect the battery to prevent electrical shorts during the repair.

  2. Access the Armrest Controls

Remove the secondary control panel/cover on the armrest to access the underside of the remote valve controls.

  3. Remove the Knob

Pull off or unscrew the flow control knob from the top of the 1st remote flow potentiometer.

  4. Remove the Potentiometer

Disconnect the electrical connector from the potentiometer. Remove the retaining nut (3/8-32 thread) securing the potentiometer to the mounting plate, and pull the potentiometer out.

  5. Install the New Part

Insert the new potentiometer, secure it with the retaining nut, and reattach the flow control knob.

  6. Reconnect Power

Reconnect the electrical connector and the tractor's battery.

  7. Calibrate the Remote Valves

Hold the 'PROG' key on the A-post display while turning the ignition key to the ON position. Navigate to the 'ARM' (Armrest) section to find the calibration menu. Follow the on-screen prompts to move the levers (typically pull back, then forward, then to neutral). Turn off the key and wait 30 seconds before starting the tractor to save the calibration.
