11070

Case IH 11070 – Armrest Controller (ARM): Aux 2nd remote valve FLOW potentiometer is failed in the Armrest Controller

Issue description

The signal from the flow control potentiometer for the 2nd auxiliary remote valve is out of its normal operating range (failed high or failed low), preventing the system from accurately reading the operator's flow setting.

Applies to these machines

  • MX Magnum
  • STX Steiger
  • MX Magnum Series
  • TG Series
  • Steiger Series
  • Puma Series
  • Maxxum Series

Check the cause

  1. Check for related codes (such as 12011, 51011, or 51012) to rule out broader armrest power or CAN bus issues before condemning the potentiometer.

  2. Open the armrest console and inspect the wiring harness and connectors for the 2nd remote valve flow potentiometer for pinched wires, loose pins, or corrosion.

  3. Test the potentiometer sweep using a multimeter to check the voltage or resistance while turning the dial. Look for dead spots or an open circuit indicating internal failure.

Repair steps

  1. Disconnect Power

Turn off the tractor, remove the key, and disconnect the battery to prevent electrical shorts.

  2. Access the Armrest Internals

Remove the retaining screws and carefully lift the upper housing/cover of the armrest console to expose the remote valve control assemblies.

  3. Locate the Component

Identify the control assembly for the 2nd auxiliary remote valve.

  4. Disconnect the Harness

Unplug the electrical connector attached to the 2nd remote flow potentiometer.

  5. Remove the Assembly

Remove the mounting screws/plate securing the potentiometer. Note: On many Case IH models, the flow potentiometer is not serviced separately and must be replaced as a complete Remote Hydraulics Control Lever/Valve assembly.

  6. Install the New Part

Seat the new potentiometer or control lever assembly into the armrest and secure it with the mounting hardware.

  7. Reassemble

Reconnect the electrical harness and reinstall the armrest console cover.

  8. Calibrate the Armrest

Reconnect the battery. Turn the key on and enter the tractor's diagnostic/programming mode via the display (PROG key). You must perform the armrest calibration procedure so the Armrest Controller can learn the minimum and maximum voltage limits of the new potentiometer.

Parts you might need
