Case IH 11082 – Auxiliary Valve Controller: 1st remote FLOW potentiometer SENSE is failed high.
Issue description
The signal voltage (sense circuit) from the flow control potentiometer for the 1st remote hydraulic valve is exceeding the expected maximum threshold, typically pointing to an open ground circuit, a short to a higher voltage source, or an internal break within the potentiometer.
Applies to these machines
6 machines- STX Steiger
- Case IH Steiger Series (335, 450, 500, 535)
- Case IH Magnum Series (200, 225, 305)
- Case IH Puma Series
- Case IH Maxxum Series
- Case IH Farmall Series
Check the cause
Inspect the wiring harness and connectors inside the armrest console leading to the 1st remote flow potentiometer for pinched wires, disconnected plugs, or corrosion.
Use a multimeter to check the potentiometer's ground wire for continuity. An open ground will cause the sense voltage to float high.
Check the sense wire for a short to a 5V or 12V power source.
Swap the electrical connector of the 1st remote flow potentiometer with the 2nd remote flow potentiometer. If the fault code changes to 11092, the potentiometer itself is faulty. If the code remains 11082, the issue is in the wiring harness or the armrest controller board.
Test the potentiometer for dead spots. A reading of infinite resistance on a 1000 Ohm potentiometer indicates an internal break.
Repair steps
Disconnect Power
Turn off the tractor and disconnect the battery to prevent electrical spikes.
Access the Armrest Console
Remove the retaining screws and carefully lift the secondary control panel/cover on the armrest to expose the remote valve controls.
Remove the Knob
Pull off the flow control knob (Part # 276797A1) from the top of the faulty 1st remote potentiometer.
Remove the Potentiometer
Disconnect the wiring harness plug from the potentiometer. Remove the 3/8-32 retaining nut (Part # A39888) securing the potentiometer to the mounting bracket.
Install the New Part
Insert the new potentiometer through the bracket, secure it with the retaining nut, and press the control knob back onto the shaft.
Reassemble and Calibrate
Reconnect the wiring harness, reassemble the armrest console, and reconnect the battery. Clear the fault codes using the A-post display or diagnostic tool, and verify that the 1st remote flow adjusts correctly without throwing a code.
