Case IH 11090 – Armrest Controller: Aux 4th remote valve FLOW potentiometer has failed

The controller is receiving an out-of-range voltage signal (failed high, failed low, or an erratic signal) from the rotary dial used to adjust the hydraulic flow rate of the 4th Selective Control Valve (SCV). This is commonly caused by a worn-out carbon track inside the potentiometer (creating a 'dead spot' when turning the dial), a broken wire, or a failed armrest circuit board.

   Check System Voltage: Low battery voltage can cause the armrest controller to throw false codes. Use the tractor's A-post display or service tool to monitor the 'ARMREST BATTERY VOLTAGE.' It should read a healthy 12–14 volts.

   Test the Potentiometer Sweep: Using a multimeter, check the resistance of the potentiometer while slowly turning the dial. It should show a smooth, linear sweep up to 1000 Ohms without dropping out (checking for a 'dead spot' on the carbon track).

   Inspect Wiring: Check the wiring harness and connector leading to the 4th remote flow potentiometer inside the armrest for loose pins, corrosion, or broken wires.

   Disconnect Power

   Turn off the tractor and disconnect the battery to prevent shorting the armrest control boards.

   Disassemble the Armrest

   Remove the screws securing the armrest console panel to access the SCV control boards and potentiometers underneath.

   Remove the Faulty Potentiometer

   Locate the flow control potentiometer for the 4th remote valve. Unplug its electrical connector. Pull off the flow control knob and remove the 3/8-32 retaining nut holding the potentiometer to the panel.

   Install the New Part

   Insert the new potentiometer, secure it with the retaining nut, press the knob back on, and plug in the electrical connector. Reassemble the armrest console.

   Calibrate the SCVs

   The tractor will not recognize the new potentiometer's limits until calibrated. Hold the 'Program' button on the A-post display while turning the ignition key to the ON position. Navigate to the armrest calibration menu and select the AUX lever calibration. Follow the display prompts to put all SCV levers into the retract, extend, and neutral positions, pressing the program button to save each position.
