11091

Case IH 11091 – Remote Valve Controller (AUX67 or AUX89): 2nd remote FLOW potentiometer SENSE is failed low.

Issue description

This code indicates that the controller is receiving a voltage signal from the flow control potentiometer for the 2nd remote valve that is below the acceptable minimum threshold. This typically points to a short to ground in the sense wire, an open circuit in the 5V reference supply, or an internal failure of the potentiometer itself.

Applies to these machines

  • STX Steiger
  • Magnum Series (e.g., MX215, 260, 290)
  • Steiger Series (e.g., 380, 430, 500, 535)
  • Puma Series (e.g., 165, 210)

Check the cause

  1. Visual Inspection: Access the underside of the armrest console and inspect the wiring harness and connector at the 2nd remote flow potentiometer. Look for chafed wires, pinched harnesses, or loose connector pins.

  2. Voltage Supply Check: Disconnect the potentiometer. Turn the key ON (engine off) and use a multimeter to check the connector for a 5.0V reference signal and a good ground coming from the armrest controller. If the 5V reference is missing, the issue is likely a broken wire in the harness or a failed armrest controller.

  3. Sense Circuit Check: Check the sense wire for continuity back to the controller and ensure it is not shorted to ground.

  4. Potentiometer Resistance Test: Measure the resistance of the potentiometer itself (it is a 1000 Ohm potentiometer). Sweep the dial slowly; the resistance should change smoothly without any dead spots or sudden drops to zero. If it reads open or shorted, the potentiometer has failed internally.

Repair steps

  1. Power Down

Turn off the tractor and disconnect the battery to prevent electrical shorts during the repair.

  2. Access the Armrest Console

Remove the necessary trim panels or cover plates on the right-hand armrest console to access the underside of the remote valve flow control dials.

  3. Remove the Faulty Potentiometer

Locate the potentiometer for the 2nd remote valve. Pull the plastic flow control knob straight up and off the shaft.

  4. Unbolt the Component

Remove the 3/8-32 retaining nut securing the potentiometer to the console panel.

  5. Disconnect Wiring

Unplug the 3-pin electrical connector from the back of the potentiometer and remove the unit.

  6. Install the New Part

Connect the wiring harness to the new potentiometer. Insert the shaft up through the mounting hole, secure it with the retaining nut, and press the control knob back onto the shaft.

  7. Reassemble and Test

Reinstall the armrest console covers. Reconnect the battery, turn the key ON, and clear the inactive fault codes. Test the 2nd remote valve flow control dial to ensure proper operation and verify that code 11091 does not return.
