1110

Case IH 1110 – Armrest Controller: Differential Lock Switch has failed in the Armrest Controller

Issue description

The controller is receiving an invalid, out-of-range, or missing electrical signal from the differential lock switch, preventing the system from safely engaging or disengaging the differential lock.

Applies to these machines

  • MX Magnum
  • Case IH MX Magnum Series
  • MX210
  • MX230
  • MX255
  • MX285
  • Case IH TG Series
  • TG210
  • TG230
  • TG255
  • TG285

Check the cause

  1. Inspect the main connectors at the armrest controller (such as connector C137) for damaged, bent, pushed-back, or corroded pins.

  2. Unplug the differential lock switch and use a multimeter to test for continuity. Verify that the switch opens and closes properly when toggled.

  3. Inspect the wiring harness between the switch and the armrest controller for chafing, shorts to ground, or open circuits.

  4. Ensure the armrest controller itself is receiving proper power and ground, and that the Tractor Data Bus (TDB) is functioning properly.

Repair steps

  1. Power Down

Turn off the tractor, remove the key, and disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent electrical shorts.

  2. Access the Switch

Remove the necessary trim panels on the operator's armrest console to access the underside of the switch panel.

  3. Remove the Faulty Switch

Disconnect the electrical pigtail/harness from the differential lock switch. Depress the retaining tabs on the sides of the switch body and push it up and out of the armrest bezel.

  4. Install the New Switch

Snap the new OEM differential lock switch into the armrest bezel until it clicks into place.

  5. Reconnect

Plug the electrical harness back into the switch. Ensure the connector is fully seated and locked.

  6. Reassemble and Test

Reinstall the armrest trim panels. Reconnect the battery, turn the key on, and clear the stored fault codes. Test the differential lock function in the field or yard to ensure the code does not return.
