11100

Case IH 11100 – Armrest Controller: Aux 5th remote valve FLOW potentiometer is failed in the Armrest Controller

Issue description

The control module has detected an invalid signal (such as an open circuit, short to ground, short to voltage, or out-of-range reading) from the rotary potentiometer used to adjust the hydraulic flow rate for the 5th auxiliary remote valve. Because the controller cannot determine the operator's desired flow setting, it disables or defaults the flow control for that specific remote valve.

Applies to these machines

  • MX Magnum
  • STX Steiger
  • Case IH MX Magnum Series
  • Case IH TG Series
  • Case IH Steiger Series
  • Case IH Puma Series

Check the cause

  1. Inspect the 5th remote flow control dial on the armrest for physical damage, sticking, or looseness.

  2. Remove the armrest cover and inspect the wiring harness connecting to the 5th flow potentiometer for backed-out pins, corrosion, or chafed wires causing a short.

  3. Verify that the Armrest Controller is supplying a 5V reference and a good ground to the potentiometer.

  4. Test the potentiometer's resistance sweep with a multimeter; it should smoothly transition without dead spots (typically 1000 Ohms).

  5. Attempt an Armrest Controller Calibration (AUX FLOW menu) via the instrument cluster. If the controller cannot complete the calibration for the 5th remote, the potentiometer is internally failed.

Repair steps

  1. Power Down

Turn off the tractor, remove the key, and disconnect the battery to prevent electrical shorts.

  2. Access the Armrest

Remove the retaining screws securing the top cover or side panel of the Multicontroller armrest console to expose the underside of the remote valve controls.

  3. Locate the Component

Identify the specific potentiometer for the 5th auxiliary remote valve flow dial.

  4. Removal

Unplug the 3-pin electrical connector from the potentiometer. Pull the plastic knob off the top of the dial. Remove the retaining nut or mounting screws holding the potentiometer to the armrest bracket.

  5. Installation

Insert the new potentiometer into the bracket, secure it with the retaining nut, and press the knob back onto the splined/D-shaped shaft.

  6. Reassembly

Reconnect the electrical connector and reassemble the armrest console covers.

  7. Recalibration

Reconnect the battery and turn the key ON. You must perform the Armrest Controller "AUX FLOW" calibration via the instrument cluster so the ARU can learn the minimum and maximum voltage values of the new potentiometer.

  8. Clear Codes

Clear the 11100 fault code from the system memory and test the 5th remote valve for proper flow operation.
