Case IH 11110 – Armrest Controller (ARM): Aux remote valve TIMER potentiometer is failed in the Armrest Controller

The controller is receiving an out-of-range electrical signal (either too high, too low, or an open/short circuit) from the rotary potentiometer used to set the timer function for the auxiliary hydraulic remote valves. When this fails, the tractor cannot accurately determine how long the hydraulic remote valve should remain engaged.

   Check the 5-Volt reference circuit to verify system voltage is not dipping below the minimum range, which can trigger false failures

   Inspect the wiring harness and connectors inside the armrest for loose pins, chafed wires, or corrosion

   Test the potentiometer resistance with a multimeter (typically 1000 Ohms) and sweep the dial to check for dead spots, erratic jumps, or an open circuit

   Inspect the dial mechanism for heavy dirt buildup or physical damage caused by vibration or abuse

   Disconnect Power

   Turn off the tractor and disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent electrical shorts while working inside the armrest.

   Disassemble the Armrest Console

   Remove the retaining screws holding the upper cover of the armrest console. Carefully lift the cover to expose the internal circuit boards, wiring, and switch/potentiometer clusters.

   Locate the Failed Component

   Identify the specific Aux remote valve TIMER potentiometer that corresponds to the failed circuit.

   Remove the Potentiometer

   Disconnect the wiring harness plug from the back of the potentiometer. Remove the retaining nut or mounting screws securing the potentiometer to the armrest housing, and pull the unit out.

   Install the New Part

   Insert the replacement potentiometer into the housing, secure it with the retaining hardware, and plug in the electrical connector.

   Reassemble

   Carefully place the armrest cover back into position, ensuring no wires are pinched, and reinstall the screws.

   Calibrate

   Reconnect the battery and turn the key on. You must perform a remote valve calibration via the tractor's display monitor (e.g., Pro700) so the Armrest Controller can learn the minimum and maximum voltage sweeps of the new potentiometer.
