11111

Case IH 11111 – Auxiliary Remote Valve Controller (AUX67 or AUX89): 1st remote TIMER potentiometer is failed low

Issue description

The control module is reading a signal voltage from the 1st remote valve's timer adjustment knob (potentiometer) that is below the minimum acceptable threshold (typically near 0 volts). This condition is usually caused by a short to ground in the signal wire, a loss of the 5V reference voltage (open circuit), or an internal failure of the potentiometer itself.

Check the cause

  1. Visual Inspection: Access the remote valve controls on the armrest console. Inspect the wiring harness and connector at the 1st remote timer potentiometer for pinched wires, corrosion, or backed-out pins.

  2. Reference Voltage Check: Disconnect the potentiometer. Turn the key to the ON position. Use a multimeter to measure the reference voltage pin on the harness side. It should read approximately 5.0V. If it reads 0V, there is an open circuit in the wiring harness between the potentiometer and the AUX controller.

  3. Ground Check: Verify continuity to ground on the ground pin of the harness connector.

  4. Component Test: If the 5V reference and ground are intact, the issue is isolated to the signal wire or the potentiometer. If the signal wire is not shorted to ground, the potentiometer has failed internally and must be replaced.

Repair steps

  1. Power Down

Turn off the tractor ignition and disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent electrical damage.

  2. Access the Console

Remove the retaining screws for the MultiControl armrest console cover to access the underside of the remote valve control switches and potentiometers.

  3. Remove the Faulty Potentiometer

Locate the timer potentiometer for the 1st remote valve. Disconnect its electrical connector.

  4. Dismount

Remove the knob from the top of the console, then remove the retaining nut or mounting screws holding the potentiometer to the panel. Pull the potentiometer out from the bottom.

  5. Install the New Part

Insert the new potentiometer into the console, secure it with the retaining nut, and reattach the control knob.

  6. Reconnect

Plug the electrical connector into the new potentiometer.

  7. Reassemble and Test

Reinstall the armrest console cover. Reconnect the battery. Turn the key ON and use the tractor's diagnostic display or the Electronic Service Tool (EST) to clear the inactive 11111 fault code. Test the 1st remote timer function to ensure proper operation.
