Case IH 11112 – Armrest Controller or Auxiliary Remote Controller: 1st remote TIMER potentiometer is failed high.

The signal voltage returning from the timer control potentiometer for the 1st remote hydraulic valve is reading above the acceptable upper limit (typically greater than 4.5V or 4.75V). This condition is almost always caused by a short to power (e.g., the signal wire is shorted to a +5V or +8V reference voltage) or an open circuit on the ground wire, which prevents the voltage from dropping.

   Remove the upper housing cover of the right-hand armrest console and visually inspect the wiring harness and connector at the 1st remote timer potentiometer for pushed-out pins, corrosion, or wire chafing.

   Test the ground wire at the potentiometer connector for continuity to the controller ground (an open ground causes the signal voltage to float high).

   Check the signal wire for a short to the 5V (or 8V) reference wire.

   Perform a potentiometer sweep test using a multimeter or the tractor's diagnostic H-Menu: manually turn the timer knob and observe the voltage or percentage display. If it stays stuck at maximum, the potentiometer has failed internally.

   Turn off the tractor, remove the key, and disconnect the battery to prevent electrical spikes.

   Remove the retaining screws for the upper cover/housing of the right-hand armrest console.

   Carefully lift the console panel to expose the secondary control panel where the remote valve flow and timer potentiometers are mounted.

   Locate the 1st remote timer potentiometer. Pull off the external timer control knob.

   Disconnect the electrical connector from the back of the potentiometer.

   Remove the retaining nut (usually a 3/8"-32 nut) securing the potentiometer to the mounting plate/panel.

   Remove the faulty potentiometer and install the new one, ensuring the alignment tab sits correctly in the panel slot.

   Reinstall the retaining nut and push the control knob back onto the splined/D-shaped shaft.

   Reconnect the electrical harness.

    Reassemble the armrest console housing.

    Reconnect the battery, turn the key on, and clear the inactive fault codes from the Armrest Controller. Test the remote timer function on the AFS display to ensure proper operation.
