Case IH 112 – Armrest Controller: Aux 1st remote valve FLOW potentiometer is failed in the Armrest Controller
Issue description
The controller is detecting an out-of-range voltage, an open circuit, or a short circuit from the rotary dial (potentiometer) used to set the hydraulic flow rate for the #1 auxiliary remote valve. A common physical cause is a worn-out carbon track inside the potentiometer, creating a "dead spot" in the dial's sweep.

Check the cause
Perform a sweep test: Turn the key ON and slowly turn the 1st remote flow dial from 0% to 100% while watching the flow percentage on the tractor's display. Look for erratic jumps or dropouts.
Perform a resistance check: Use a multimeter to test the potentiometer for smooth resistance changes across the sweep. OEM flow control potentiometers are typically 1000 Ohm.
Perform a component swap test to isolate the dial from the wiring: Swap the electrical connector of the #1 flow potentiometer with the #2 flow potentiometer. If the fault code changes to 113, the potentiometer itself is physically bad. If the code remains 112, the issue is likely a broken wire, a loose pin in the armrest wiring harness, or a failure on the armrest circuit board itself.
Repair steps
Disconnect Power
Turn off the tractor and disconnect the battery to prevent electrical shorts while working inside the armrest.
Disassemble the Armrest
Remove the retaining screws securing the right-hand armrest console cover/trim. Carefully lift the cover to expose the internal controls, wiring harnesses, and circuit boards.
Locate the Component
Locate the Aux 1st remote valve flow control dial assembly.
Remove the Knob
Pull the plastic adjustment knob straight up and off the top of the potentiometer shaft.
Disconnect Wiring
Unplug the 3-pin electrical connector from the bottom of the potentiometer.
Remove the Potentiometer
Remove the retaining nut (typically a 3/8-32 nut) that secures the potentiometer to the armrest bracket or panel. Pull the failed potentiometer out from the bottom.
Install the New Part
Insert the new potentiometer, align the anti-rotation tab (if equipped), and tighten the retaining nut.
Reassemble
Reinstall the plastic knob, plug in the electrical connector, and carefully reassemble the armrest console plastics. Reconnect the battery.
Calibration
Turn the key ON and navigate to the tractor's diagnostic/calibration menu. You must perform an Armrest Controller Calibration (specifically the SCV / remote valve calibration) so the module can learn the new minimum and maximum voltage limits of the replacement potentiometer.
