Case IH 12012 - EPL – EPL (Electronic Park Lock) Controller / Module XA: Power stage – PH_A open circuit or PH_B open circuit, motor open

The controller has detected an open circuit on Phase A or Phase B of the electronic park lock actuator motor. The underlying condition is a break in the electrical circuit, which could mean the motor is physically disconnected, there is a severed wire/damaged connector in the harness, or the actuator motor has failed internally.

   Inspect the wiring harness and connectors between the EPL controller (Module XA) and the park lock actuator motor for open circuits, broken wires, or loose/corroded pins.

   Test the actuator motor continuity with a multimeter to verify if it has an internal open circuit.

   Access the tractor's diagnostic H-menu (Module XA) to perform a voltmeter diagnostic (H9 menu) and verify all active/stored fault codes (HB menu).

   Preparation

   Park the tractor on a flat, open surface. Ensure the handbrake is released and the shuttle lever is in the park position.

   Harness Repair

   If the diagnostic checks revealed a broken wire or damaged connector on Phase A or Phase B, repair the harness and clear the codes via the HC menu (Clear all stored fault codes).

   Actuator Replacement

   If the actuator motor is internally open, remove the faulty Electronic Park Lock Actuator and install the replacement unit.

   System Calibration

   After replacing the actuator or repairing the wiring, the system must be calibrated. Enter the H-menu diagnostics, navigate to the XA module, and select the H1 menu (Calibration procedures). Follow the on-screen prompts to calibrate the EPL applied position, the EPL released position, and the accelerometer.
