Case IH 12022 – Remote AUX Controllers (AUX67, AUX89): Duplicate Source Address Detected
Issue description
A Controller Area Network (CAN) bus communication error indicating that two or more control modules on the tractor's network are broadcasting or have been configured with the exact same source address, causing a conflict in network communications.
Applies to these machines
2 machines- STX Steiger
- Case IH Steiger
Check the cause
Check if any remote valve controllers (AUX67 or AUX89) were recently replaced, swapped, or updated, as unprogrammed modules default to a base address.
Use the Case IH Electronic Service Tool (EST) to perform a CAN bus network scan and identify modules failing to report or reporting under the same address.
Inspect the CAN bus wiring harness at the remote valve stack for pinched wires, corrosion, or water intrusion.
Repair steps
Connect Diagnostic Tool
Connect the Case IH EST laptop to the tractor's diagnostic port.
Reconfigure Addressing
Navigate to the Remote AUX Controller programming section. Manually reassign or re-flash the correct source addresses to the AUX67 (Remotes 6 & 7) and AUX89 (Remotes 8 & 9) controllers so that each has a unique identifier on the network.
Module Replacement
If a controller refuses to accept a new address or continuously drops its memory and reverts to a duplicate base address, the internal logic board of that specific remote controller has failed and the module must be replaced.
Clear and Verify
Once addressed or replaced, clear all inactive fault codes. Cycle the tractor's key switch off, wait 30 seconds, and turn it back on to verify that code 12022 does not return.
Parts you might need
(1)Remote AUX Controller / Electro-Hydraulic Remote Valve Controller
Must be ordered for the specific remote slice (e.g., Remotes 6/7 or 8/9) and must be calibrated and addressed using the Case IH EST software upon installation.
