Case IH 1208 – IC (Instrument Cluster) or UCM (Universal Control Module): Seat Switch Plausibility Fault

The control module is receiving a signal from the operator seat switch (operator presence sensor) that contradicts other machine operating conditions or inputs (e.g., the machine is moving or joysticks are active, but the seat switch reads as empty, or the switch is stuck in a closed position).

   Inspect the operator presence seat switch to see if it is physically stuck in the depressed (closed) position or damaged.

   Check the 'Seat Harness to Sensor Switch' connector and wiring harness for damage, corrosion, or open circuits.

   Verify CAN-Bus communication by checking for accompanying error codes (such as 1206 or 1207) that might indicate a broader network issue rather than a failed switch.

   Locate the seat safety switch / interlock sensor under the operator's seat cushion.

   Disconnect the electrical connector.

   Depending on the exact switch model, it may feature two connectors with 90-degree terminals.

   Remove the faulty interlock sensor/switch from the seat base.

   Install the replacement switch and reconnect the seat harness.

   Clear the fault code from the IC/UCM and test the seat switch validation by sitting in the seat and operating the EH controls.
