Case IH 1211 – UCM (Universal Control Module): Joystick Calibration not Complete

The system has detected that the mandatory calibration procedure for the electronic joystick control has not been successfully completed or was interrupted. The controller does not have the learned parameters (minimum, maximum, and center positions) required to safely and accurately operate the hydraulic functions.

   Inspect the hydraulic system for leaks, damaged hoses, improper routing, and loose fittings that could prevent reaching saturation points.

   Verify the pilot pressure from the Implement Controller to the Loader Control Valve to ensure hydraulics respond to electronic commands.

   Ensure there are no active communication faults between the Instrument Cluster (IC) and the UCM (such as codes 1206 or 1207).

   Monitor the raw joystick output values using the machine's diagnostic menu or an Electronic Service Tool (EST) to ensure the potentiometer/encoder is sending a signal.

   Enter Calibration Mode

   Access the calibration menu via the in-cab display or by connecting a diagnostic service tool (such as the CNH EST or Jaltest software).

   Select Joystick Calibration

   Navigate to the UCM / Calibration Functions menu and select 'Joystick Calibration'.

   Set Maximum Right/Forward

   Hold the joystick fully to the right (or forward, depending on the axis being calibrated) at the absolute mechanical limit and press 'Enter' or 'Acknowledge'.

   Set Maximum Left/Reverse

   Hold the joystick fully to the left (or reverse) at the limit and press 'Enter'.

   Center Position

   Allow the joystick to return to its neutral, spring-centered position and press 'Enter' (if prompted).

   Save and Exit

   Once the display reads 'Joystick Calibration is now complete', press the ESC button to return to the main menu and cycle the key power to save the parameters to the UCM's EEPROM.
