Case IH 1212 – UCM (Universal Control Module): Calibration Functions: Ground Drive Calibration not Complete

The controller does not have the learned electrical parameters required to accurately control the electro-hydraulic ground drive pumps. The system requires a successful calibration to learn the exact electrical current needed to bring the pumps on stroke.

   Use the Electronic Service Tool (EST) to check for other active CAN bus or hydraulic faults (such as joystick faults, pump solenoid faults, or EEPROM memory faults like 1224/1225). If the UCM has internal memory faults, it will drop its calibration data.

   Ensure the machine's hydraulic oil is at normal operating temperature, as cold oil can cause the calibration to fail or learn incorrect parameters.

   Ensure the machine is safely lifted off the ground before calibration to prevent unexpected movement.

   Park machine

   Park the machine in a safe, open service area.

   Raise and support machine

   Raise the machine off the floor until the tires or tracks are completely off the ground. Support the machine securely with proper lifting equipment (e.g., heavy-duty jack stands).

   Connect diagnostic tool

   Connect the Case IH Electronic Service Tool (EST) to the machine's diagnostic port.

   Select calibration

   Navigate to the Calibration menu and select the Ground Drive Calibration procedure.

   Execute calibration

   Follow the on-screen prompts in the EST to execute the calibration. Diagnostic Note: It is normal to see a small amount of machine movement (track/wheel rotation) during calibration as the UCM finds the command current that brings the pump on stroke. However, significant movement (more than 0.3 meters / 1.0 ft) is not expected and is a symptom of a mechanical or hydraulic issue.

   Cycle key switch

   Once the EST indicates the calibration is successful, cycle the key switch.

   Verify and clear fault

   Verify that fault code 1212 is now inactive and clear it from the UCM memory.
