Case IH 12186 – MTA CCM & APH: Actuator - Actuation timeout, zero current flow

The system commanded the Electronic Park Lock (EPL) actuator to move, but the actuation timed out because the controller detected 'zero current flow' in the actuator circuit, indicating a complete open circuit.

   Secure the machine on level ground and chock the wheels before beginning diagnostics.

   Inspect the wiring harness leading to the EPL actuator for disconnected plugs, corroded pins, or severed wires.

   Verify that the fuses and relays supplying power to the CCM and the EPL actuator are intact.

   Unplug the EPL actuator and use a multimeter to measure the resistance across the motor pins (infinite/OL indicates open internal windings).

   Check for companion codes using the Electronic Service Tool (EST) or in-cab H-Menu, specifically codes 12172 or 12188.

   Inspect the mechanical park brake components (rotors/steels) on the input shaft for warping or sticking.

   Disable/Bypass (If Emergency Movement is Needed)

   Temporarily disable the EPL using the Case IH Electronic Service Tool (EST) under the configurations menu. Note: The manual handbrake must be used if the EPL is disabled.

   Repair Wiring

   If the diagnostic checks revealed a broken wire or corroded connector, repair the harness and retest the system.

   Replace the Actuator

   If the actuator motor is internally open (failed): Disconnect the battery, disconnect the electrical harness from the EPL actuator, unbolt the actuator assembly from the transmission housing, install the new EPL actuator and torque the mounting bolts to factory specifications, then reconnect the electrical harness.

   Calibration

   Connect the Case IH EST laptop or enter the tractor's 'H-Menu' (using the diagnostic test switch tool 380000843 in the cab's diagnostic port) to run the Electronic Park Lock calibration routine and clear the 12186 fault code.
