Case IH 12212 - EPL – Electronic Park Lock (EPL) Controller / Actuator (XA module): Factory – Accelerometer not calibrated / EPL orientation not configured.

This code indicates that the internal accelerometer within the Electronic Park Lock (EPL) system has lost its calibration values, or the physical orientation of the EPL module (e.g., "FRT" for front-located) has not been configured in the tractor's electronic management system.

   Check EPL Orientation Configuration: Access the "H3" menu (Configurations and options) to ensure the EPL orientation is set correctly. The default setting is usually "FRT" (front located). If this is not set, code 12212 will trigger.

   Prepare for Calibration: Park the tractor on a completely flat surface away from obstacles. The parking brake must be released, and the shuttle lever must be in the park position.

   Secure the Vehicle: Be prepared to use the service brakes during the calibration procedure to prevent the tractor from moving.

   Install diagnostic tool

   Install the diagnostic connector tool (Special Tool P/N: 380000843) into the diagnostic socket, which is located in the cab on the right-hand side rear pillar behind the operator's seat.

   Navigate to H1 menu

   Using the "h", "m", and "dimming" buttons on the instrument cluster, navigate the H menu to H1 and select the transmission symbol on the XA controller.

   Start calibration

   Press the "dimming" button to start the calibration. The display will show "Cal".

   Select accelerometer calibration

   Press the "h" button. The display will show "Inc" (accelerometer calibration) or "SC" (stroke calibration). Use the "h" and "m" buttons to toggle to "Inc".

   Calibrate the Accelerometer

   Press the "m" button to enter the accelerometer routine. The display will alternate between the calibrated value and "Inc". Once complete, the display will automatically switch to "SC".

   Calibrate the Stroke

   With "SC" on the display, press and hold the "m" button to calibrate the released position. A horizontal line will move downwards on the display, followed by the "EPL release" symbol.

   Clear codes or replace EPL assembly

   If the calibration completes successfully, clear the codes. If the error code persists or the system refuses to calibrate, the EPL assembly has internally failed and must be removed and replaced, followed by a fresh calibration.
