Case IH 12214 – EPL (Electronic Park Lock) Controller: Factory - Disable Actuation

The Electronic Park Lock (EPL) system has disabled the actuation of the electronic parking brake. This condition is most commonly triggered when the tractor's batteries go dead or drop to a very low voltage, causing the EPL to lose its memory and initialization status. It can also occur if a technician manually disables the EPL via the tractor's configuration menus.

   Check Battery Voltage: Ensure the batteries are fully charged and load-tested, as a dead, disconnected, or weak battery is the primary culprit for the EPL losing its memory.

   Check for Accompanying Codes: Look for code 12213. If present together, it confirms the system simply needs to be reinitialized.

   Verify Configuration: Check if the EPL was intentionally disabled in the HH menu of the controller by a previous technician.

   Sit in the operator's seat and firmly press and hold both brake pedals.

   This is the first step of the EPL Reinitialization Procedure.

   Release the hand brake.

   Turn the ignition key to the 'RUN' position.

   Do not start the engine yet.

   Place the shuttle shift lever into the Neutral position.

   Press and hold the 'Neutral' button on the shifter handle.

   You should hear the brake release, and the fault codes should clear from the corner post display.

   Perform an advanced calibration if the quick reinitialization fails.

   Access the tractor's H-Menu via the instrument cluster.

   Navigate to the H1 Menu.

   Follow the on-screen prompts to recalibrate the actuator limits.

   If the actuator has mechanically failed, it will fail this calibration step and require replacement.
