Case IH 12547 – XCM (eXtended Control Module / Central Controller): Pedal latch switch unexpected value

The controller is receiving an inconsistent, out-of-range, or illogical electrical signal from the brake pedal latch switch. This code is specifically flagged when the system cannot determine whether the brake pedals are latched together or unlatched based on the expected voltage values.

   Enter Voltmeter Diagnostics (H9 Menu) using the service switch and navigate to the Brake Pedal Latch Switch channel (typically Channel 3 on the R1 module)

   Test the physical switch by latching and unlatching the brake pedals to verify expected readings on the display (81 when not latched, 30 when latched)

   Inspect the wiring harness for the S33 Brake Pedal Latch Switch, including the in-line connector (X6) and keypad connector (X7), for corrosion, open circuits, or shorts to ground/battery

   Safety First

   Park the tractor on a level surface, turn off the engine, apply the handbrake, and block the wheels.

   Disconnect Power

   Always disconnect the negative battery cable before carrying out repairs on the electrical system or replacing sensors to prevent short circuits.

   Locate the Switch

   Locate the S33 Brake Pedal Latch Switch on the brake pedal assembly inside the cab.

   Remove the Faulty Switch

   Disconnect the wiring harness connector from the switch. Unbolt or unclip the switch from its mounting bracket on the pedal assembly.

   Install the New Switch

   Mount the replacement switch and ensure it is properly aligned with the pedal latch mechanism so that it physically depresses/releases when the pedals are locked together.

   Reconnect and Reassemble

   Plug the wiring harness back into the switch. Reconnect the negative battery cable.

   Verify Repair

   Turn the key on and use the H9 diagnostic menu again to confirm the switch now toggles correctly between values 81 and 30. Clear the 12547 fault code from the XCM memory.
