Case IH 126 – TMF (Tractor Multi-Function) or AUX (Auxiliary Remote): Aux 1st Raise solenoid failed open or short circuit.
Issue description
The controller has detected an electrical fault in the circuit controlling the "Raise" (or extend) function of the 1st Auxiliary Remote Valve (SCV 1). The system is seeing either an open circuit (a broken wire, disconnected plug, or burnt-out internal coil) or a short circuit (wiring touching ground or another wire).

Check the cause
Visually inspect the wiring harness and connector at the 1st remote valve (SCV 1) at the rear of the tractor. Look for corrosion, moisture, or physical damage to the wires.
Perform a swap test by disconnecting the electrical connection from the 1st remote valve and swapping it with the 2nd remote valve (SCV 2). If the fault code changes to the 2nd valve, the solenoid/pilot head on valve 1 is faulty. If the code remains on the 1st valve, the issue is in the tractor's wiring harness or the TMF/Armrest controller.
Measure the resistance of the Aux 1st Raise solenoid coil using a multimeter. An infinite reading indicates an open/burnt coil, while a zero reading indicates a dead short.
Verify the tractor's system voltage. Low battery voltage (under 11.5V) or a failing 5-volt sensor reference network can sometimes trigger false electrical faults across the CAN bus.
Repair steps
Preparation
Turn off the tractor, lower all implements to the ground to relieve hydraulic pressure, and disconnect the battery.
Locate the Valve
Locate the SCV (Selective Control Valve) stack at the rear of the tractor and identify the 1st remote valve block.
Disconnect
Unplug the electrical harness connector from the Aux 1st Raise solenoid (often integrated into the SCV pilot head/electric module).
Removal
Remove the retaining nut or mounting bolts securing the solenoid coil or pilot head to the valve body. Carefully pull the faulty solenoid/pilot head off the valve cartridge.
Clean
Clean the mounting surface thoroughly to ensure no dirt or debris enters the hydraulic system.
Installation
Slide the new solenoid or pilot head onto the valve and tighten the retaining nut/bolts to the manufacturer's specified torque.
Reconnect
Plug the electrical harness back into the new solenoid.
Calibration
Reconnect the battery and start the tractor. You must perform the SCV / Remote Valve Calibration procedure via the armrest display. This allows the TMF controller to learn the electrical characteristics (sweep and deadbands) of the new solenoid so it can reach neutral and float positions without throwing further codes.
