Case IH 12618 – TECU (Tractor Electronic Control Unit) or ABS Control Module: Front left wheel speed sensor - frequency > 1.5 kHz

The control module is receiving a frequency signal from the front left wheel speed sensor that exceeds 1.5 kilohertz. This is an implausible reading indicating electrical noise, a short circuit, a faulty sensor, or an incorrect sensor air gap.

   Inspect the front left wheel speed sensor and its wiring harness for physical damage, chafing, or corrosion that could cause electrical noise or a short to power/ground.

   Verify the physical air gap between the tip of the speed sensor and the tone ring/gear teeth on the front left hub.

   Use a multimeter or oscilloscope to measure the frequency output of the sensor while manually rotating the wheel to see if the sensor is generating erratic high-frequency spikes.

   Remove retaining bolt

   Remove the retaining bolt for the front left wheel speed sensor.

   Remove old sensor

   Pull the old sensor from the hub/axle housing.

   Install new sensor

   Install the new sensor, ensuring the correct air gap if adjustable.

   Clear codes

   Clear the codes via the tractor's diagnostic menu.
