Case IH 12619 – ABS System / Frame ECU: Front right wheel speed sensor - frequency > 1.5 kHz
Issue description
The signal frequency being reported by the front right wheel speed sensor is abnormally high (exceeding 1.5 kilohertz). This condition is typically caused by electrical interference, a short circuit in the sensor wiring, or a failing sensor outputting erratic, high-frequency data to the controller.
Applies to these machines
3 machines- Case IH Puma Series
- Case IH Magnum Series
- Case IH Maxxum Series
Check the cause
Inspect the front right wheel speed sensor, which is mounted on the steering knuckle/front axle.
Check the sensor's wire harness and connector clip for chafing, corrosion, or short circuits that could introduce electrical noise or a false high-frequency signal.
Ensure the tone ring (reluctor ring) inside the wheel hub is not damaged, loose, or packed with metallic debris, which can cause erratic sensor readings.
Ensure the sensor is securely mounted and not vibrating excessively to maintain the correct air gap.
Repair steps
Safely park the tractor, engage the parking brake, and turn off the engine.
Locate the front right wheel speed sensor on the front axle steering knuckle.
Disconnect the sensor from the main ABS/Frame ECU wire harness.
Inspect the pins for moisture or corrosion.
Remove the sensor mounting bolt and carefully extract the sensor from the housing.
Clean the mounting surface.
If the sensor was damaged or the wiring tested faulty, install the new replacement wheel speed sensor.
Route the new sensor cable exactly as the original, securing it with heavy-duty cable ties (e.g., 193mm ties).
This prevents the harness from rubbing against moving suspension or steering components.
Reconnect the sensor to the harness.
Power on the tractor and use the EASY diagnostic tool (or the in-cab display) to clear the inactive fault codes.
Test drive the tractor to verify that the ABS light turns off and the ground speed registers correctly without throwing code 12619.
