Case IH 12649 – ABS Control Module / Pneumatic Trailer Brake Valve Controller: AUX3 internal charge-pump error (EM supply)
Issue description
Failure or malfunction of the internal charge pump (supply pump) within the tractor's braking control system. The module has detected that the internal pump cannot build or maintain the required pressure, or the voltage supplying the pump is out of the acceptable operating range.
Applies to these machines
4 machines- Case IH Maxxum series
- Case IH Puma series
- Case IH Optum series
- Case IH Magnum series
Check the cause
Check EM supply voltage to the ABS/Pneumatic Trailer Brake module (system disables output if voltage is < 8V or > 36V)
Inspect the wiring harness leading to the ABS module for chafing, corrosion, or damaged pins
Ensure the ground connections for the module are clean and tight
Check the fuses and relays that provide power to the pneumatic brake system and the ABS controller
Clear the fault code using an Electronic Service Tool (EST) and run the automated ABS/Brake system test to see if the code immediately returns (indicating a hard failure)
Repair steps
Disconnect Power
Turn off the tractor and disconnect the battery to prevent electrical shorts.
Locate the Module
Locate the ABS Control Module / Pneumatic Trailer Brake Valve assembly (typically mounted near the rear axle or air reservoirs).
Relieve Pressure
Safely bleed any residual air/hydraulic pressure from the pneumatic braking system.
Remove the Faulty Unit
Disconnect the electrical harnesses and pneumatic/hydraulic lines from the valve block. Unbolt and remove the faulty module.
Install the Replacement
Mount the new Pneumatic Trailer Brake Valve / ABS module. Reconnect all pneumatic lines and electrical connectors securely.
Restore Power
Reconnect the battery.
System Configuration
Connect the Case IH Electronic Service Tool (EST) to configure the new ECU to the tractor and run the automated ABS system test to initialize the module.
