Case IH 12695 – ABS Module / Electronic Braking Module (EBM): ABS activity too long (add.info = 0) or too frequent (add.info = 1)

The Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) has been engaging continuously for an extended period, or it is cycling on and off too frequently during operation. This usually means the system is receiving erratic data or there is a mechanical issue causing the brakes to drag or lock up prematurely.

   Connect a diagnostic tool and monitor live wheel speed data from all four wheels while driving. Look for a wheel speed sensor that drops to zero, spikes, or reads significantly different from the others.

   Inspect the wheel speed sensors and ABS tone rings (sensor rings) for heavy dirt, mud, or metallic debris buildup, which can distort the magnetic signal.

   Inspect the wheel speed sensor wiring harnesses for chafing, breaks, or loose connectors.

   Verify that tire sizes and pressures are matched across the axles. Mismatched rolling diameters can trick the ABS module into thinking a wheel is slipping.

   Identify the Offending Corner

   Use the live data from your diagnostic tool to identify which wheel is triggering the false ABS events.

   Clean the Sensor Area

   Remove the wheel speed sensor from the affected hub. Thoroughly clean the sensor head and the tone ring inside the hub.

   Check Sensor Gap and Resistance

   Ensure the sensor is seated correctly. If the sensor wiring is damaged or the sensor fails a resistance test, it must be replaced.

   Replace the Sensor

   Disconnect the sensor from the main harness, unbolt the sensor head, and install the new OEM wheel speed sensor. Route the cable exactly as the original to prevent snagging.

   Clear Codes and Test Drive

   Reconnect your diagnostic tool, clear the 12695 fault code (and any accompanying wheel speed codes), and test drive the tractor at speed to verify that the ABS no longer engages unnecessarily.
