Case IH 127-04 - DEC – Transmission Controller (TCU): Transmission Oil Pressure - Voltage Below Normal, or Shorted to Low Source
Issue description
The control module is receiving a voltage signal from the transmission system pressure sensor that is below the acceptable minimum threshold (typically less than 0.2V or 0.5V), indicating an electrical short to ground in the sensor wiring, a disconnected harness, or an internally failed pressure sensor.

Check the cause
Check live data on the instrumentation controller display to view system hydraulic pressure. A flat 0 or erratic negative value points to an electrical failure.
Visually inspect the wiring harness leading to the transmission pressure sensor for chafed, rubbed, or pinched wires shorting to the tractor chassis (ground).
Disconnect the sensor and inspect the connector pins for corrosion, moisture, or damage.
Perform a voltage test with the key ON (engine off) and measure the reference voltage at the sensor connector to ensure the ECU is sending the proper 5V supply.
Test the signal wire for continuity back to the transmission controller and verify it is not shorted to ground.
Repair steps
Prepare machine
Park the tractor on a level surface, engage the parking brake, and turn off the engine.
Locate sensor
Locate the transmission pressure sensor. It is typically threaded into the transmission regulator valve block or the side of the transmission housing.
Disconnect sensor
Disconnect the electrical connector from the sensor.
Repair wiring
If the diagnostic checks revealed a wiring short, repair the damaged section of the harness using proper soldering and heat-shrink tubing.
Prepare for sensor removal
If the wiring is intact and the sensor is deemed faulty, place a catch pan underneath the valve block to catch any residual hydraulic fluid.
Remove sensor
Use a wrench to unscrew and remove the faulty transmission pressure sensor.
Install new sensor
Thread the new OEM transmission pressure sensor into the port and tighten it to the manufacturer's specified torque.
Reconnect sensor
Reconnect the electrical connector, ensuring the locking tab clicks securely into place.
Verify repair
Turn the ignition ON, clear the fault codes via the cab display, and start the machine to verify that the code does not return and the transmission shifts normally.
