Issue description
The eXBR1 (External Brake Request 1) is a standard SAE J1939 CAN bus message. It is broadcasted by vehicle systems (such as the Vehicle Control Module, radar, or Advanced Emergency Braking system) to request braking action. This fault code sets when the receiving module detects that the eXBR1 message data is corrupted (invalid checksum) or out of sequence (message counter error). This indicates a data corruption issue or a physical communication breakdown on the CAN bus network.

Connect the CNH Electronic Service Tool (EST) to read all active and stored fault codes. Look for other J1939 CAN bus errors that might indicate a broader network failure.
Inspect the J1939 CAN bus wiring (twisted pair) between the EBM and the transmitting module (usually the Vehicle Control Module or AEB radar).
Test the CAN bus terminating resistors with a multimeter (with the battery disconnected, resistance across CAN High and CAN Low should be approximately 60 ohms).
Inspect the EBM harness connectors for moisture ingress, corrosion, backed-out pins, or physical damage.
Verify that the EBM is receiving proper operating voltage and has a clean ground connection.
